About

LivPsych Mic is LivPsych’s new blog!

It is a space where students can:

  • Publish their own essays or think pieces about psychiatry, either related to new research, cultural issues relating to psychiatric care, or issues in the media for example
  • Share diary entries of experience from psychiatry placements
  • Share personal experiences of mental health either publicly or anonymously
  • Use language and prose in creative ways to connect with mental health

We hope that the space will allow students to engage with psychiatry in a wider social context, reflect on and process experiences from psychiatry placement (which we know can be extremely challenging), to demonstrate that mental health issues can affect each and any one of us, and help to tackle mental health stigma at the university, especially in the medical student community. Since the interface between arts and mental health is well documented, we hope the flexible brief will allow students to approach it in new and creative ways.
